The Creation of Adam

When you register on the university website, you will be asked to specify if you plan to attend the following events:

Tuesday afternoon, Tour of the Library

Troyes is home to one of the richest collections of medieval manuscripts and early printed books in France, largely because its library is now hosting most of the books previously kept at Clairvaux Abbey, a major Cistercian monastery until its dissolution in 1789, during the French Revolution.
Pierre Gandil, the curator, has kindly accepted to welcome us to the library and show us some of its treasures. The tour will be conducted in English.

Tuesday night, Dinner

We have planned to book tables in a nice restaurant so all the participants can share a meal together. There will be no set menu and no advance payment, so it’s just a regular night out at the restaurant, with everyone paying for what they ordered, but we do need to know how many people plan to attend so we can book accordingly.

Wednesday afternoon, Tour of the City

For those who plan to stay in Troyes after the last session, we will organise a small tour of the city in order to share some of its most striking features with you. The cathedral, located very close to the university building, is a definite must-see, with its exceptional stained-glass windows, but the “bouchon” (so-called because the city-centre is shaped much like a Champagne cork or “bouchon” in French) can.
